Some toys have now integrated many of today’s popular technologies as part of the learning experience for kids. Devices in mind include smartphones and tablets with their touchscreen surfaces with allow for some interesting playtime when placed in the hands of babies. But interesting as they are, the devices alone won’t be a suitable toy for kids since it is primarily designed for adult use. But with toys such as Mattel’s new Laugh & Learn Apptivity Monkey that allows iPhone integration, the smartphone then becomes more of an ideal toy for babies to play with.
The Laugh & Learn Apptivity Monkey is a plush toy that by Mattel made by its toy subsidiary Fisher Price. It is a plush monkey toy with a built-in protective case in front designed for the Apple iPhone or iPod Touch. When the device downloads a free app associated with the toy, babies can interact with the device by squeezing on the monkey’s hands and feet. Through it, babies can learn about numbers, colors, letters and more. Quite an interesting mix of toy and technology, the Laugh & Learn Apptivity Monkey is expected to be available at stores sometime in July of this year. It is expected to cost around US$30.
